With all the intense travelling nonstop in Turkey, with 3 hours of sleep flying from London to Istanbul, then the next morning off to Cappadocia for a day at 6am and then the last day intense touring before a 7am flight to Athens. I really needed some sleep and rest, so I woke up at 10 on second day in Athens, got ready and left the hotel by 11. We head off to another day of exploring other parts of Athens. First, we visited the Temple of Zeus, there was not much left as it was mostly destroyed by war. And then seeing the hadrians arch which was just around the corner before a quick lunch at a cafe. After lunch, we decided to take the city sightseeing tour bus to get to other attractions as the ticket was valued for money, it costs €18 for 48hrs. First stop was Plaka to see the Parliament, then we hop on to the next stop that I really want to visit was the archealogical museum, which considered to be one of the largest in the world. We spent quite a vast amount of time there as it was huge, and there were so so so many artifacts, I cannot describe how many there were. It was incredible to see how civilisation was like and what they had already achieved then, and what they achieved is just unbelievable, I felt like I was walking on a path back into the past, I learnt so much in just few hours, definitely a place would visiting.
After the museum, I wanted to see the shopping areas of Athens so we went back to Stynagma Square and just strolling along the streets to kill times before we head to visit the highest point of the city to have a better panoramic view of the city. There was electric train to get us to the top, but the station still situated up the hill, so some walking up was required. I felt that the view from this sight was not as beautiful as it was from the Parthenon, it just something magical when it is view from the Parthenon side.
Afterwards, we head back to the Akropolis area, and as I mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to visit the restaurant calls Dionysos for the great view of the Parthenon at night but it was fully booked. So we looked for another restaurant in the area and we found this place calls Manh Manh, the restaurant was quiet and the food was really nice.
